For wood, you don't need any coatings. The coatings are really for different types of metals.
I've been using small ballnose bits from Ebay with excellent results, for about $5-$7 each.
So, i'm just about finished my first 3 axis cnc machine (will have 4 axis once i cut out the mount using the 3 axis machine). I was just wondering what type of bits i should get?
I'm mainly going to be cutting wood, but maybe a bit of plastic (spare acrylic and delrin)... possibly some alluminum.
I've been looking at the ball endmills, to do some round surface 3D milling.
I was wondering what type of coating i should get for the Carbide bits?
Does it matter when cutting wood?
Should i just get the plain Carbide?
Are the coatings only for when you are cutting metal? since the coating might have special properties that are designed to cut certain materials?
Thankyou.
