Probably not recommended, but we've never warmed up the 10HP HSD spindles on our point to point machine, and they lasted over 8 years of daily use before needing a rebuild.

    Question about M codes

Good Morning Jim and the group,

A friend and I just bought a used Shop Sabre 4860 router that came with WinCNC 2.4. I have been running Mach3 on my homebuilt router and Taig mill. Apparently WinCNC does not use the standard M00, M01, M02, M03, M30 codes. I have been through the manual several times and so far I haven't figured out how to control the manual changing of tools.

Mach3 uses the M00 to stop and I turn off the spindle and change bits and then continue. I know WinCNC must have this capability but I haven't found it. A small code file showing beginning and ending with a tool change would be greatly appreciated.

Jim, I have been dreaming about one of the small CAMASTER machines (Stinger). It would be perfect for my shop but too many other things going on at the moment. Maybe next year. The CAMASTER machines really look good.

    Thanks,
    Russ

Jim, the thing is, my shop is just a play house. I just go out and generally make chips and sawdust. Every now and then I make something for a friend or family. Mostly though it is things for the shop or just things I am interested in at the moment to see if I can do it.

I suppose if I had a machine that was fast, accurate and did what it was told consistently I would be more interested in making more things. My router is made primarily from mdf with aluminum bracing. It works and does a decent job but it isn't very fast.

Problem with the play house is that I have to budget for the toys to go in it.

The Shop Sabre is in the friend's shop. He builds furniture and had a use for the larger machine. I went in with him to buy it and am trying to figure out how to run WinCNC. So far I haven't had much luck. I am a little slow figuring out new software.

I have been reading the CAMASTER forum for a while and find the info very interesting. The pictures of the cabinets you make have been impressive. I haven't figured out how to make things like that yet.

I regret not having been able to go the the tool show in Atlanta this past August.

    Russ

    M5 is spindle off
    T2 is your tool number
    M3 is your spindle on
TU or T0 is a typical tool unload
M30 is not needed that just means end of file complete.
G53 takes the z axis to the machine Z0

    hopes this helps....

    CNChelper,

Thanks for the sample file. That looks very similar to what I run in Mach3. I will give that a try this evening when I get home and see if it will work. Maybe there are some settings in WinCNC that I need to make for it to run those commands.
