    Brazing...........????

    Guys, i need to do some brazing (newbie) on .125 through .250 1018 mild steel........what would be the better gas to use as far as temperature control......Acetylene or MAPP gas???...............thanks...Matt

    Acetylene, its cheaper.

    Are you planning to braze it or braze weld it with a bronze rod? If you're going to use a bronze od keep in mind that you'll need to triple the miimum accetable size of the weld to equal the strength of bleh quality mild steel.

    better off just tig welding it. and if you have to use any type of gas got with the acetylene you will be able to get the heat you will need..
