    stick stabbing is an easy way to stick the rod. match strike is a sure-fire.

    Yeah It only really works when the material is already hot, and different brands of rods can do it and some can't.

    Thanks for doing this. I struggled a long time trying to understand aluminum TIG welding and could not find any good help for my issues. A site like yours is invaluable to those just starting out.

    hey apples
    I am just starting out to learn how to weld and I would like to buy a welding machine that I can use at my home with a 120 volt outlet if possible what would you recomed me to purchase. and also were should I get. for know all I really want to weld is steel

    my hobart handler 120 (120 amp peak) is pretty nice. about $200 less than miller or lincoln which are basically the same now.
