The brazing rods won't work for steel. Any suggestions for welding aluminum and steel together?
Last month, my friend bought some HTS-735-II brazing rods at a wood working show in New Jersey. I asked him about brazing screws to aluminum so the screws don't loosen as I use the CNC machine that I'm building. The screws are zinc-coated. I had to cut threaded rods to 1-inch and 2-inch pieces, drill and tap holes in aluminum angles, and thread the pieces into the angles. Nuts will hold ball bearings that will roll on steel tubes. We are going to try it on samples to see if it will work. Will this work?

If you can figure out a way to do this other than being in a zero gravity situation you will never have to work another day in your life,

welding aluminum and steel together ---
Brazing --- Piece of Cake !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I did it in the 60's.
I used a Eutectic rod and silver solder coated the steel and brazed the aluminum to the coated steel. It flows well and has high strength. The braze is harder than most aluminum.
Don't ask me what the number of the rod is and I have not found salesmen who know the product.
I built a manifold using a steel header and steel exhausts and aluminum intake tubes. I also put copper tubing oil cooling in an aluminum oil pan using the same method.
