    Chemical Tungsten sharpening

Ever try it? Did it work for you? I just tried it and it seems like a gimmick to me.......

Also got some impurity in the welds from the chemical residue burning off the cup.

Never used it and don't plan to.

I have read many threads on this topic and the consensus seems to be mixed. Some folks use and love ChemSharp, others tried it and don't care for it.

I have no problem grinding several in advance and changing them out when required.

When I was learning how to TIG weld.... Hold it, I'm still learning. I tried to weld near the bench grinder as I spent more than half the time grinding the dip off the tungsten.
I also tried to remember to flip the helmet down before stepping on the pedal... this was especially beneficial if I wanted to watch the late movie. I've since gone to an auto-darkening helmet.

I suggest purchasing a dedicated sharpener. You will notice a huge difference in your welds, especially on Aluminum. A grinding wheel does work, but there are so many impurities on the wheel that you contaminate your tungsten.
    Try this:

I think that will do more than just a chemical process for you.
A word to the wise, get one for steel, and one for aluminum.
