Welding Respirator (That wont give me itchy eye!)
Hi all.
Im probably going to be doing a lot of my welding indoors in an enclosed space. What is a good powered respirator that can be used for welding?
This seems suitable for the class of particulates given off in welding fumes, but its clear, so hence I'd get that itchy eye thing from looking at the arc (Whats that called again?)!

Who uses a powered respirator while welding, can anyone recommend a good one?
Thanks.

You can get them but they are not cheap.

Suppose you could use a scuba tank and respirator.
Or fan force air from an outside source through some ducting into an improvised helmet. This still leaves all the gasses hanging around for when you take the mask off. Wouldn't it be better if you could weld under a venting hood.

Thanks. Your right, they're not cheap! But might be worth saving up for. A venting hood would be great if I can build a flexible enough one for various awkward welding positions. I look into it.
