    Pulsed MIG

    Hi all.

    1) Whats the differance between MIG and Pulsed MIG?

    2) What are the advantages/disadvantages of using Pulsed over just plain MIG?

    Thanks.

....Pulsed MIG capability seems more expensive when buying a welder.

Pulsed MIG is basicly what it says, pulses on and off. It is used for welding thin metals doing some of the "stiching" for you. By pulsing on and off it gives the metal time to cool and not burn through as easily. You still have to be carfull to avoid warping. It is definately nice if you are doing alot of thin stuff, but good welding practices will give you just as good results with a standard MIG. More expensive because of the extra electronics needed for the pulsing.
