    How to re-condition welding leathers

I have some old welding leathers that seem to be a split-hide or suede type of leather that are getting a little bit stiff from age.
What is the best thing to use to re-soften the leather?
    Thanks.

Anything I can think of will make the leather easier to light on fire. Wouldn't want to go there myself

Sometimes I will powerwash mine at the carwash, which makes them stiff, so I throw them in the dryer (while my wife's not home!) and let them tumble.

Leather gets hard when it drys out. You can add moisture by itself but it dries out fairly rapidly.

The trick is to use some sealing compound (dubbin, wax type boot polish etc) and some moisture. Get the leather a bit damp first then a small amount of boot wax to seal the moisture in. I think if you go sparingly on the boot wax it should not be a fire hazard.
