You can probably buff anything with a soft pad and rouge, but that doesn't mean it will come out looking optically flat and straight. A good weld looks nicer than a hack job of covering up with grinding and polishing. How good are you?
I have 3" alum mirror finished pipe that will have 90 degree elbows welded to it.This frame is going to be 10'x40'.Is it possible to polish my welds to match the mirror finish of the pipe?

First you get good, then you get fast. Then grouchiness sets in.

From what I have learned about buffing so far, it is pretty important to match the filler with the base material in order for the finished product to look uniform. Different alloys look different when buffed and such. I haven't really figured out an ideal way to blend welds myself, it seems like a hidden art.
Currently, I am using flap discs over outside corner joints and things like that. I haven't really figured out what to do about shaping inside corner joints. I've done research on the topic, something about rat tail files. If you can run through the grits and get up to your compounds, you should be able to accomplish the task.
