    Harbor Freight Coupons

I am in the market for a new 9 x 20 lathe from HF. I see on the website and thier flyer that they are selling for 699.99. I also have a 20% off coupon. My question is can I use the coupon on internet orders or phone orders? Ideally I woul have one ordered up at my local HF store and use the coupon there. That way I could save on shipping as well.

Will HF let me do this?

I don't mind paying the dough, just don't want to give it away needlessly.

That seems to depend on your local HF store. Best bet is to go in coupon in hand and ask them to do that. If the clerk says no, ask to speak to the manager. If it still doesn't work, try another store. Some will, and some won't honor the coupon for special orders. Unless you have to drive a long way, its sure worth a try. Its easier to say no on the phone instead of in person with cash (or credit card) in hand.

    Out of Stock?

I went to harbor freight yesterday, coupon in hand. I spoke with the manager and they said no problem, they would honor the 699 price and the 20% off coupon and have it shipped to the store so I could pick it up to save on shipping. Alright I thought. Went to place my order, and was told that the warehouse is out of stock. On guy had one on oder since February and it still has not been filled. Must be on the slow boat from china.

Is this normal or was I getting a line from and inexperienced stock person?

Needless to say whith no guarentee of timely delivery, I did not place the order.

Any suggestion here? Maybe step up to the grizzley 10 x 22? Do they ever have any coupons? I see they are offering free shipping on this item.

    Harbor Freight 20% off coupon

The August 2009 issue of Flying magazine has a 20% off coupon on page 82 which appears to be good until 11/2009.

Why would anyone want to buy that Chinese piece of trash? It's cheap and you will get what you pay for, for the same money you could buy something used that would much better suit your needs.

Listen to this guy, almost everything I own I bought used. About the only thing I bought new was a bridgeport manual mill about 20 odd years ago, most everything else I own from lathes to sheers to sheet metal benders to tube benders to cnc mills are all American and japanese machines and were all bought used and will totally anialate all that chinese garbage. Better bang for you buck, bottom line. And why keep supporting china, why not help a business out that totally lost there @$$ most likely to china and buy there machines, theres plenty of them that are going under everyday, you won't have a problem finding good deals. Help out the American business owners by taking their $100,000 machine or more off their hands for $1000 -$10,000. Hell I see all kinds of people going to these auctions and buying perfectly good machines and what are they doing with them not using them or even selling them, they are scrapping them, it's disgusting. People like you who buy from china are the problem.
