Router Laser? Cutter? CNC Recommend PLease

I am in a total loss and tangent in looking for what I seek

I am a scrtach builder mainly architectural models and other scrtch built diromas and panels for amusement parks etc.

I am not sure if I need a laser or router or what?

Here are the basics I want to cut

Wood or foam no greater than 3"
Styrene no greater than 1/4
Acrylic no greater than 1/4

Metal not a priority in this but would be nice(aluminum no greater than 1 inch)

Id like to etch or score, would also like to 3d

Base size 24"x36 i could go larger or a little smaller but not much smaller

I am new to CNC but familiar with CAD and computers

ANY recommendations would be nice Local US i would rather not have a Overseas machine

I am not sure what to get I would like to keep it under 5k

less is always better though

Many Thanks in advance!!!!!
I am just overwhelmed by the options....

Router , no doubt. Concerning price - looks like only Chinese router fit this limit and my advice buy it from local dealer who will provide installation, training and support

So you think a Router?

I am sure about router
Concerning melt - everything depends from proper tool choice and parameters setting. On router for 5000 USD you can't get only clear edge while cutting acryl.

For 3d and anything approaching 3" thick, you'll need a router. Laser cutters (at least the ones in your budget) are 2d only and won't cut much over 1/4". But I could see fitting a small CO2 laser outboard on your spindle's headstock and using it for the 2d cutting it sounds like you want to do about as much as the routing. It cuts acrylic and cardboard quite cleanly; much better than a router bit will.
