What I would like to have the ability to do:
Have an executable with a shortcut on my desktop that would allow me to drag and drop files to be placed on a various number of ftp sites or secured file servers for distribution to supply vendors. I would like this executable to create a log of what is sent, when, and how, as well as details about file size. I would like it to also create email automatically that would contain the same data as the log to be sent to the parties involved with the file management. I would like it to also capture the data regarding the origination from where the file was copied from and who was logged in doing it. I would like the log to be on the local network with more than one user capable of using it. I could see this being created as a active x or some other type of web format or VB.
The particulars as I envision them would have a single icon for each vendor, there would also be icons that specify groups such as for quoting purposes which would send out the data and emails to a select group for quote with BCC being used so each vendor has no idea about the others.
I think email notification would be created automatically but allowing for review before the operator hits the send button.
I would think the log would be backed up on a daily basis; it would be nice to have the ability to sort this log in some manor such as in Excel by date, customer or vendor. I also envision the log creating a new page in the workbook each month or business period.
With all that said, is it possible? How long would it take to create for say 5 vendors? Does anyone here do any contract programming in this order?
