    Chinese Linear Systems

Looks like the Chinese have unbeatable prices on linear rail packages (supported rails, pillow blocks, ball screws, etc.).

    Anyone has any recommended vendor?

Lots of people have bought from Chai.
No major problems noted. If he doesn't list the sizes you want, just drop him a message and he creates a listing for you.
    Regards
    Geoff

Thank you Geoff, I read the same about him with a good service and price, those prices are unbelievable for a complete set.

The only thing that worries me is how he ships the items; he has a paragraph stating to check the items for misalignment because he only ships in carton boxes due to custom regulation

Those of you who have purchased Chinese Linear Packages (Rails & Ballscrews) how do you specify the end of the ballscrews which will mate with your motor shaft?

I mean most North American motors have 1/4" or 3/8" shafts and these ballscrews are in mm. Will they machine the ballscrews to 6.35mm? if your motor shaft is 1/4"?

    What is your experience?

I have been using the ALIEXPRESS (chinese ebay).
I bought stepper motors, usb board (Compatible with MACH3 software),parallel board power supply, stepper drivers.

I built two cnc controllers one for a cnc woodlathe and one for a retrofit Spectralight, it work fine.

I tested a 4 axis controller with an USB board and for DQ 860 MA drivers and it seem to work fine.

For delivery, I use FedEx or China Post. I never had any problem. It take between 6 days (FedEX) and 14 days (China Post).

You Pay ALIEXPRESS( credit card or PayPal) and they pay the supplier when you confirm that you received the goods.
    If you need more info.
    Bye Roger

How do you space the slide blocks on these rails, can you have them stuck to each other when you do your mounting?

I mean is there a reason to have a space between them or you can have them next to each other?

A space or no space with slide blocks is completely up to you. That's the beauty of making your own stuff you have complete control. That's something you'll have to engineer and find out if it's best to have a space or not for your application.

Sounds good because I have seen some photos and they all have a space between them and I thought that it may be a requirement.

Anyway I will experiment and as you said I will find out myself
