    Arbor

I have a part that I am wanting to profile a 5.5 radius around a 7.25 wide x 6.75 tall end. I had the idea of using a round inserted sloting tool with a 1.25 bore but can't find an arbor that gives me the length (6-8") and the clearance from the cutter to the shank (1.25"). I need the clearance to get to the bottom of the part without the shank rubbing. Anyone know where to find something like this?

Practically nothing you wrote made sense to me.

Sounds like you want an inserted ball mill 1.250 diameter 6.750 long minimum.

How about a Kennemetal KDMB1250R827A125SN? It is 8.25 overall, but the neck down is on 3.150. So you would have to turn it back at least 3.600 more for your clearance.

They might have others available. I am not going to spend my time searching harder.

The radius runs around side to side as well as top to bottom, kind of like a basketball cut in half and stuck on the end of a 7.25x6.75 shank. Im trying to cut top to bottom without flipping the part.

    You need something like this:

    Convex Radius Cutters | MSCDirect.com

    And maybe this would work:

41-1/4-A8 MILLING MACHINE ARBOR - TTC :: Precision Milling Machine Arbors | Travers Tool

Would need a lot of spacers.

I would just make my own arbor.

You and I think alike, I am looking at an inserted slot cutter that holds round inserts and looks like the one you found. I was hoping to find an arbor I could use without altering, mainly because I'm limited on what I got to work with, but I can manage. Thank you very much for your time and help.
