Would like to purchase or download a repair manual for a Kia Turn 15. Specifically would like to know how to realign the turret since its "crash". Any help would be appreciated.![]()
You won't find a manual that explains hopw to do the resetting after a ccollision, but here is the procedure that I use.
1. To check the alignment of the headstock, put a 1" pin in the collet chuck, indicate the pin so it runs true within .001 TIR at the end. Then run the indicator along the Z-axis located on the X-axis, not on top of the pin. If this is good, go to step 2. If not, loosen the (4) bolts holding the headstock in place and true up the pin. Go to step 1
2. Locate an indicator in the collet and move the turret face to travel in X-axis direction. The face should be square within .001 TIR. If this is good go to Step 3. If not, remove the cover over the turret belt. This will enable you to reach the (4) 24mm bolts. Loosen these and retighten sligthly, then move the turret by using a 2 X 4 between the tailstock and the turret or if needed, between the chuck and turret until alignment is within .001 TIR. If okay go to Step 3.
3. Locate the indicator in the chuck collet, rotate turret to your best holder, sweep the indicator to acheive best on X-axis. If the bore is out more than a couple of thousands, Remove the 6 pipe plugs towards the cent of the turret. Loosen the (6) bolts and pull the tapered (2) out. Tap the turret radially to get best indication. Retighten the bolts. You can ream and replace the (2) pins if you want, but I do not.
4. You will need to reset the tool presetter after this.
Any questions, PM me.
