Long Range Communication (LRC) card Multicam

    Hi guys,
just wondering if I could pick your brains for some expert advice regarding my new router.
Its a Multicam 11-s, Australian made model . All good and bought quite cheap at auction, minus an LRC card and any software..

Machine uses a 4 pin plug ,connecting to the serial port on the LRC Card to a windows 95/98 desktop, yet to purchase interface software. Multicam offer Toolpath for $150

So I called Multicam Australia who have kindly advised "they manufacture their own LRC cards for each machine to suit each specific application"..
I am unsure what is considered reasonable as Im new with CNC but Ive just received a quote for nearly $1700 for the LRC card alone.
    My questions are -
    1. Would any LRC card be suitable
    2. Options to source used parts?
    3. Comments on quote of $1700??!
    4. Any alternate options??

I am unsure what hardware is installed in my machine. If i recall correctly small stickers with xyzmotion or something like that??

Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.

    LRC assistance

    Hi
I use a Multi-cam 5000 series router in the UK, I have a very good independant machine engineer who used to work for Multi-cam uk. As luck would have it I will be seeing him tomorrow ( Monday 22nd). He has sourced many parts for me alot cheaper than Multi-cam prices. I will make an enquiry on your behalf and see if he can advise you. Hope this will be of help to you.

    Jim

    Multicam CNC

    Sounds great Jim,

I am also led to believe Multicam models manufactured in USA use parts not suitable for those made in Australia. Cant see there be too much variation but who knows?
The LRC Card recommended by Multicam runs only on Windows 95/98, connects to the machine via the LRC cable having a 4 pin plug one end and serial port plug for PC end. Replacement cost over $1700!

Is it safe to assume newer hardware suitable for the same application would be available in USB connection??

    Hi Again

Spoke with Paul today He is aware of the differences with US and AUS multi-cam. Your machines are based on AXYS machines. He said to give you his e mail address and he can probably awnser you questions and tips on suppliers.
    Hope thats helpful.

    Multicam Aus

Multicam Australia is does NOT have anything to do with Multicam USA. It is two completely different companies. Multicam Aus. is AXYZ, they just got to the name Multicam in australia before Multicam did.
