    Mission Impossible?

Looking for a North American made, 2 to 3 thousand dollar machine with at least .01mm accuracy, at least 37"Y working width. and, most importantly, made by a company which actually responds to an email expressing interest in their product.

I've been looking and emailing but it seems folks are comfortable and don't need the business. WTF?

You haven't been very specific about what kind of machine you're looking for, nor have you been clear about the range of travel. You gave only one confusing dimension.

Is this a lathe, a wood-working router, or what?

    Pixman,

Part of my 21 hour old, unanswered post on xzerocnc's forum.
"I currently build gates, doors and some furniture. I'd like to expand the door side and do more than paneled doors. In these machine choices I guess I'd go for the 39"Y one so my projects will fit. I'm pretty much a newb with cnc though I do have a good grasp of a few 3d programs and feel I can pick it up without too much baby sitting.

For now, I don't need a machine with super accurate tolerances, but would also like the ability to do some smaller, detailed craft items like lighter cases, knife handles, etc. with carved designs/pics. And an ability to upgrade parts later would be a nice option."

Art rout has had 4 days and not answered three messages with some questions about his machine.

And don't even get me started on the three month no delivery with Digirout. That experience put me off of the whole thing for the last two years, and now it seems the situation is still about the same.

The Chinese shops seem vague in their descriptions and evasive in their emails
so what do I do? What other options are there in this price range? MDF and bike chains?

    Rob

    Rob,

Sorry but I know ZERO about woodworking routers. I pretend to know plenty about metalworking machinery, tooling and processes, but truly nothing about what you apparently need.

I was just asking what kind of machine you needed so I could know if I could help. I can't. Sorry.

No sweat, just venting my amazement at the situation. Thanks,

2-3 thousand is unrealistic for a large travel router with high accuracy, also what X travel and z travel,in any case your looking at 4,000 and higher and im not sure if you'll
    get the .01 mm accuracy

Update: Art-Rout and Xzero have both contacted me as have a few others. I'm disappointed there seems to be few machines to fit my needs and wallet.

I think the 2-3K is an unrealistic amount for something that large.

Even if you roll your own your price range is unrealistic. You might get lucky on Ebay and find something used that with work will fit the bill, but the accuracy and size you desire are not cheap.

What do you mean with 0,01mm accuracy? Is it really for wood.

Such a machine that can hold that kind off tolerances in wood, thats expensive..

Those Chinese machines aint going to have 0,01 accuracy, rather 0,1mm.
Just buy and you will find out
