Default Looking for a small DIY project to make

Hello, I am looking to cnc aluminum boxes. The longest length of one end would be at most around 125mm but at most I would like to be able to do around 250mm on each axis (just because then I can use it for more projects) I was wondering what you guys think the best (kit) I could source that would need me to buy the fewest extra parts. I am very familiar with 3d printers and how they work, but I would like to start to get into cnc machining and the most z travel i could find would be around 70mm with my budget not being though the roof.

Did you want to carve these boxes out of solid aluminum billet? If price was no object, I suppose you could do it that way, but it seems uneconomical, both of time and money. Is there something special about these boxes that isn't available in the die-cast boxes you can buy off the shelf? (just an example: Die Cast Aluminum Enclosure - Econobox | BudInd )

Usually, people use their CNC machines to modify enclosures like this; putting in shaped holes and ports that hold components. But I can't think of any kits I'd recommend for cutting aluminum; mostly what you find in kit form is too light-duty for that.

That is exactly what I want to use it for! cutting those small die cast boxes, also some wood projects in the future! Do you know of any machines that can cut a box like that?

If you're talking about making these boxes from solid chunks of aluminum, then you'd need a full-sized knee mill or VMC for that. If all you need to do is make holes in pre-cast boxes, it's a lot easier. You could probably use one of the little Taig mills we sell.
