But my opinion is that it is for end switches connection. I will try to find it after the summer and I will reply.

Hi,
Im not 100% on this but there is a sticker on the back of the controller that seems to indicate the following.

DB9 pin 1 = DB25 pin 10
DB9 pin 2 = DB25 pin 11
DB9 pin 3 = DB25 pin 12
DB9 pin 4 = DB25 pin 13
DB9 pin 5 = DB25 pin 14
DB9 pin 6+7 = 5V
DB9 pin 8+9 = GND

The PCB the DB9 connects to says “input” so I would say they are general purpose input pins that can be configured in Mach3 for whatever use, limits, external jog etc.

Hi, This is my first post so I guess no better way than to jump in with both feet...... Bought the Sable 2015 and am waiting for it to arrive, received a "junk" computer off ebay and will be using Mach3... so far so good. I understand that the Sable documentation leaves a bit to be desired (no pun intended). If you have that schematic could you please post it?

followed the install instructions to no avail then ticked sherline mode and all started to move.

now i need to get eagle exporting g code and i will have a go at making some pcb's

Hmmm, interesting, what software are you using?
I use Mach3, but I have heard that Sherline uses a
different motor that the Sable. Do your motors move
accurately? Also I would be interested in what you
came up with for that sacrificial bed.... progess has
been slow for me, due to attending to some heat issues
with my controller (Ver 2).

... Just FYI, you might want to check your circuit board
against the schematic more closely. I was in process
of building up a cable for the DB15 when I discovered
that U19 is not installed which then prompted me to
look further.... I have the Ver 2 controller...
R87 and R88 are present, R28 and LED5 are missing,
J3 header has holes and silk screening but no pins, and
last but certainly not least, the caps on pin 2 of each of
the LM555 timer chips (C22, C27 and C28) have been
jumpered out. Leaving those 3 caps out may have been
by design but the board differs from the schematic.
If you plan on using a manual pulse generator I would
look real close at the pin out of its connector to verify
the used/usable connections which mate up with your
board... it could save you some wonderment and grief.
These are the most obvious omissions I have seen so
far, there could/might/may be more so just to be aware.
Should I discover more I will post them, as I hope you
will do the same.... Thanks.

A word of caution. The schematic available from Luke Chan, and posted by vph, is for the later model of the driver board. It does NOT cover the original board which has a large heatsink and fan, and no opto isolation. Luke does not have a schematic available for this board.

To clarify further, the schematic is for the board shown in the attached photos.

This is my first post, but I have watched this thread with interest. I have a working Sable-2015 which I am currently fitting out with a vacuum chuck and full control panel. My first boards will be used as part of this system design.

i just received my sable today as well. Noticed two things from playing with it. the x axis is not level. also cnc controller gets kinda hot...



also my y axis is acting funny...gets stuck (maybe its a software issue or someting)

Whats the easiest way to fix the level problem?

I have read through the whole Sable 2015 thread. And, have some experience with CNC machines.

You guys have taken a lot of time and trouble to post and get good information out to others!

I do have one note for those wanting to upgrade. If the power for the motors comes through the controller, it might not be designed to handle the power of a NEMA 23 stepper motor. You can get stronger NEMA 17 motors that may do what you want. Let alone the drilling mount holes has to be more precise than a hand drill.

Also, some of the problems might be that it needs run a while to smooth out any imperfections in the rod/nut setup. It shouldn't, but I do not know the quality of parts they used.

I have never messed with the type of backlash nut they put on it, but some are adjustable...

Other than that, "hello" to everyone. And, I wish someone with more experience had come on instead of letting everyone flounder trying to figure it out.

Bolt it to a bigger heatsink with a fan.
The drivers are bolted through the bottom & the whole housing acts like a heatsink.

The ones I looked at came complete with everything. I sent an email and he replied with $100 shipping & handling to anywhere in the US.

I also saw, on eBay, some goofy people bidding $650 for one instead of paying the flat $499 for one. Doh...
