    >The caps in the
post mod pic are 8200ufd and are the biggest I could
find which would fit into the case with the cover installed.
The motor current is sensed with low value resistors - the
six 2 watt'ers. These did get hot also so I replaced them
with 3 watt of the same value and mounted them so the
body of the resistor is half way between the circuit card
and the box cover. Source: Digikey.

Do you have the digikey part number for the cap and resistor?

I ended up making my own from Hall sensors from floppy drives and magnets, They are dead nuts, but it took some doing. I've heard a lot about while selling little drives & machines.

    Hi,

I want to buy one too and have no idea if it's worth it or not. Can somebody show some pictures of pcb-s made with this thing? or any kind of results? I went through the whole thread, but was not convinced on pcb side..

    thanks in advance,

    pityu

    @nilsht:
...gee, has it been 3 years already?! guess time files when you're havin' fun....
...this is too weird... just last week I was thinking about purchasing a second - for the
sole purpose of alleviating the need to change between setups when switching from
    pcb's to parts.......

With all of my modifications the machine is working very well.

    regards.

Anyone know where to source the same M10 type 'anti-backlash drive nuts as used on the Sabel 2015? ...I've a tiny bit of play in my X axis (& I've already tried tightening everything up!).

Any chance some of the 2015 owners here could also check if they've any play on the X axises too..... With power applied to the steppers, grab your (powered off!) spindle & try to move it left to right ...any noticeable play?

I can't recall if they were nylon or metal? If they are nylon, you can put more tension on it by just pulling it out and slit it crossways in from the narrow end for a cm or two, and then with a hacksaw blade mark a groove around the end, and fit a circlip or anything with enough tension to pull the ends in a bit tighter against the screw. This isn't anywhere near as dificult as it sounds, and is fairly standard practice for plastic nuts.

    cheers, Ian

    It's a state of mind!

They look all metal to me (certainly cant see any plastic - but then again, I've not removed them off the leadscrew & tried to take them apart).

Another option here might be just to bite the bullet & upgrade the leadscrews to 1204-3 ballscrews/nuts - anyone done that...upgraded theirs to ballscrews/nuts?

(video at the foot of the advert)

looks & sounds pretty good for not a lot of money - I've ordered one.

Very nice looking spindles, it would be good if anyone who's bought one could review them.

Yes, it looks really good value @$99.99...

Re my earlier post (play on the X axis), here's the type of drive nuts used on my particular sable...

(which looks to be a completely different nut vs. the equivalent pictures posted on the first couple of pages of this thread - so looks like they've changed the design). It also looks like a 1204 ballnut might fit (and 1204 ballscrews & ballnuts aren't *that* expensive in lengths to fit the Sable 2015)

The nuts definitely different to the one on mine, looks like the ballscrew won't be too dificult to replace, linearmotionbearings and econvenience on ebay can both supply and machine screws to your dimensions. I've never been happy with the crap packaging LMB does, but lots of others have used them and been happy.

If I were doing it, I'd enlarge the mounting holes at each end to give more clearance, fit the ballnut to the existing support, and mount the ends of the ballscrew on plates that attach to the machine frame, so that you can adjust the plates to get them perfectly aligned. That way you can adjust it assembled from the outside, so no need to pull the whole machine apart to adjust it.

    cheers, Ian

    @HankMcSpank,
...looked over your pics and remember seeing some other folks with backlash issues
and have always been intrigued with the cause. To me the nut on the X and Y axis seems
to be fairly sturdy and just don't see how it would be allowing any play unless the massive
spring was binding in some way (but it IS slathered with A LOT of grease - at lease on mine it is).
So this leaves one to look elsewhere.... i.e. the radial bearings which support the threaded shafts.
see green circle of pic.... hope you don't mind I used a portion of your image
    Sable-2015 CNC ROUTER / ENGRAVER-mil-sable-bearing_1-jpg
during the process of floating the head I noticed the z axis bearing was basically toast but I
got lazy and didn't look at the other axis bearings on the threaded rods. If they start to slop about
then the those axis will have some play. Maybe I just got lucky and a few good ones on my
threaded rods...for what it's worth: my 2 cents. Good Luck.

    Quick question....

I bought one of these way back when, as it looked like a smoking deal. I've never used it, but it did get all setup. After stuff being moved around, the controller ended up on the powersupply.....still plugged in to a powerstrip. Long story short, smoke came out of the controller.

So my question is, can I use a different controller...the ebay guy wants $100 plus $50 shipping for one. I see controller boards for $50, so was wondering which if any I could use to control this. I would like to convert to USB if possible.

    Hi,

Just taken delivery of one of these, couple of questions...

Just wondered if anyone know what thread the bolts were that hold the frame together as one of mine is damaged.

Also does anyone know what size bolts fit the bed, im guessing M5 but only a guess

I am trying to decide which spindle is most appropriate for milling PCB's and Acyrlic.

Has anyone used the spindle HankMcSpank linked to above?

Or is a Chinese 400w a good place to start?

This is the one HankMcSpank mentioned

I've bought a complete router kit from luke and I'm wiring the machine. The kit doesn't have e-stop button and I want to set up one. Anybody know this machine and know how to wire this button, please kindly help me!!!
    I don't know it is normaly-close or normally-open for this Sable 2015.
    Thank you very much,
