Default 15W 450 nm laser module

If you do a search on eBay or AliExpress (i.e. https://m.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=m4084.l1313&_nkw=15w+450+ nm+laser) you will find several similar items.

    Few questions:
    - I don't think they are really 15W, but I hope are better than my 6W optlasers module. Any experience with them?
    - they say are for mainly for engraving, I need to cut soft 3 mm plywood. Now it takes 11 passes at 800 mm/min... but with great precision (0,1 mm). It's worth to give them a try?
    - how to select one among them? I really don't understand the differences, if any...

    Thanks in advance!

    i have several
it cuts 3mm acrylic in 4 passes
it cuts 3mm mdf in 4 passes

the next day none of them will cut at all

the next day they all cut perfect

i have no idea why, maybe weather affects lasers? i have no clue

Oh my friend! I also experience the very same behavior with the 6W laser from OptLasers. Initially I was thinking about focus: vibrations would have moved the lens, but then I realized it's not related to focus!
Anyway, I will give it a try for that price. I'm tired of my 11 passes for 3 mm plywood...

Just for curiosity: at what speed you cut mdf? And I guess non-transparent acrylic, right?

i keep all my lasers focused perfectly, that was my first thought too

    i cut mdf and acrylics @ 50mm/min

cant cut clear acrylic at any speed, totally black cuts good........most days

i have 2, 2.5 lasers that cuts THE SAME EXACT MATERIAL AT THE SAME EXACT SPEED

i'm beginning to think wattage ratings are meaningless

Well, I was hoping something faster than 50 mm/min

i'm beginning to think wattage ratings are meaningless
It would be interesting to understand if the power ratings are not so important because there are other variables involved, or just because they write something cool to sell...

Unfortunately, co2 lasers are a lot more complex to manage than laser diodes...

i can cut polystyrene .060 @ 200mm/min smooth as silk
