Default Which machien for figurine carving

    Hi,

Just starting to explore CNC, looking to create figurines in plastic, wood, other hard material (aluminum would be great but not required), I am assuming I need 4 or 5 axis, parts would be 2" or 3" diameter, and maybe 4"or 5" long maximum, but typically 1.5" Dia and max 2" high.

Lookinmg for smoothest surface finish possible, so will take any and all advice on which materials, and machine would be best.

    Reasonable level of detail required.

Cutting time not to bothered as I am retired and this is a hobby

    Budget Ideally under £2000 (US$2600).

Look forward to the advice - thanks.
    Andy

You could do this on a Taig or Sherline mill, which won't cost a whole lot more than you want to spend, although the 4th axis attachment will add a bit, as will shipping it to the UK. Or you could try sending your money to China, and see if they send you anything in return, and if so, whether it will work.
