which tabletop cnc to buy? (yes, another one of those threads...)
i purchased a used mydiycnc and the wimpy rotary tool-like spindle will not cut through acrylic. i need a machine that can accommodate a porter cable palm router. i like the idea of the piranha because i can buy it at a brick and mortar and it will come with a warranty. i will mainly be cutting small pieces of acrylic, up to 1/2 thick. i don't need a large cutting surface but at least 12x12. any suggestions? thanks.

Depends on the budget.
For 1/2" acrylic you would need already stiff machine. In general, palm routers are not design for long runs. Ant they are very noisy. Consider to buy 1kW spindle, even LC Chinese type suits better than palm router.
Where are you located?

I'm in Phoenix. Would like to keep it under $3k, and cutting area around 12 x 24.

For this budget only steppers. With small z movement (3- 4") - suitable for boards.
Or something like that:
