    Default CNC Mikron WF3DCM

    Greetings from slovenia.

    Im not very active on this forum or anny forum but i read alot on CNC zone.
    I have a question i would also say i need an advice. My whole story is i bought an chinese CNC in december 2013. The next step was to build my own cnc machine.
    And now in december 2015 i'm looking to buy an Mikron WF3DCM the price is around 7500€ good condition. The controller is TNC 155 Heidenhain. I found out that it loves to move with all 3 axis at the same time.
    In the future i'm planning to change the controlling system and the motors.

    Any advice and suggestions will be greatly appreciated

    Regards

    Rok

    Whats your goal ?
    Run the heidenhain, or use a sw controller ie linuxcnc or mach4 ?

    You want it good or you want it cheap and good.
    For mach4:
    CSMIO - best, or PokeysCNC (very good, but 125 kHz only, and 4 axis only).

    Depending on your servo resolution, the Pokeys may be fast enough, or not.
    Usually, it is.

    For 10.000 count encoder, and 1:2 or 1:3 belt drive, you need 500 kHz.
    A commercial machine with servos has LOTS of IO.

    My lathe, with CSMIO, will be around 150-190 lines when its all done.
    Each servo is about 6 IO, plus 4 lines for differential step/dir signals.
    => 10 IO lines, x 5 axis = 50.
    x2 for dffirential = 100
    + 10 basic pendant.
    + 20 MPG.
    + 6 for analog overrides, Spindle overrides and FRO or feed rate override
    == 136 for now.
    +homes and limits, 3x5 = 15 lines.

    Add about 20-30 sensors for a commercial machine.
    Oil pressure good, air pressure good, spindle lock, spindle in pos, drawbar at top, drawbar locked, door open, toolchanger locked/open
    etc

    Woow thanks guys for so many answers.
    The plan is to learn a little bit of TNC 155 just to get the feeling and save some money to buy the new controller.

    hanermo :i don't know yet what to use. On the milling machine that i have built i use MK3 planet cnc board.
    Probably the same thing but i have to dig a little bit deeper into the servo sistem.

    Today i have searched about TNC 155 connection on this forum and found out how to connect it with the computer. Thanks again to the great forum and all the nice people that share their knowledge here.

    Regards

    if its working dont change use the rs232 in tape mode . If you want to retorfit use Linuxcnc , you need exebox for it and gear change macro fro spindle . You can put invertor on spindle but on low rew you dont have power.
