Intro to the forum and looking to purchase a CNC for mainly Acrylics!

Heyo!

We are currently an at home business locatedin Toronto Canada that will soon move to a shop, and want to acquire a CNC table mainly for Acrylic work.

Our budget is around 30k and I think our best option is to buy used as we need to cut through 1" acrylic (thickest job we will need to do. Mostly will be working with 3/16" acrylic) for 4' x 8' sheets

Ive been doing some research and price quoting and found that AXYZ and Multicam are pretty good options. However, AXYZ is probably out of our price range and we can just barely afford the basic multicam unit without any tool change.

With that said, im leaning towards buying a used CNC instead but we are relatively new to the cnc world. As such, training, calibrating and troubleshooting are challenges that we are willing to face. However, im afraid that these costs of "fixing" an old machine will cost more than just purchasing a new one.

Any tips and advise is greatly appreciated!

Why not to buy the laser engraving/cutting machine? It is very good to cut the Acrylic. we have the laser machine1309, the worktable is 51” x 35”. Lon"g life span laser tube 130W. if you want to cut 1" thicknest acrylic, it had better to use 150-180W laser tube.

Most of our work needs to be cemented together and i Have issues with the acrylic crazing with we do a laser finish.

Cnc'ed pieces do not have crazing issues.

We have decided to go with either a Multicam 1000 series or an AXYZ 4008. Both come with ATC as we will be cutting, engraving and polishing the acrylic too. Does anyone have an idea of a good price to be paying for one of these? I am in the process of negotiating a price but want to know what is considered a competitive price. Right now bothr want around 68k for their machine.
