I've been looking through various things on this board for a while reading build threads and calculations for builds but being a newb to CNC I need a little TLC in my choices if thats ok.
I plan on building a CNC machine but realise that as a first run its probably better to start small, have fun and bodge something together that ticks and whistles like it should.
I would eventually like to make it a standalone operation on an ARM embedded setup or Arduino reading the G-code file from an SD card. With my first full machine using an Arduino for motion control and desktop PC doing grunt work. First off though I have to make everything spin and whir correctly.

Shopping list:
4x 5V 1.4A/phase 1.24Nm stepper motors
4x A4983 stepper driver with voltage regulator

I have a few Arduinos to play with so thats ok. The driver only supports 35V which is a third of full speed voltage required by the 32*sqrt(inductance). Obviously i will be using them in series but also couldnt care less about the speed at which they move my machine. My goal is to have a working machine not a high speed machine.

Ideas? or should I just stop waffling and take the jump xD
