Visual mill is owned by Mechsoft, it then created a program called RhinoCam which is basically the same program.. ready to be loaded in to Rhino [3d modeling software]. The term VisualCAM encompass's all of mechsoft's products. Obviously you couldn't use Visual mill to creat code on a lathe.. so you'd go to Visual TURN for this.. but that too is a sub-set of Visual CAM.

It's too bad they decided not to bring a full simultanious 5 axis to market..in WM 6.0... I'm glad I didn't buy it now [they promised me earlier this year they would.. during a product demo... just buy it now and you'll get a free upgrade to 6.0 when it comes out in three weeks. (demo was first week of March 2007)]..

SolidCAM here I come....

THATS good and i know what u said about three in one ( A single platform for art, mill and lathe). But what about the question in my second post?...

A big company can't be so ignorant for keeping a name of another company product to their own????

I would hazard a guess that being as the two software sets aren't in the same field.. that they don't concider the name a conflict.. Mechsoft does nothing w/ Electronic's and it looks like VisualCam.. only does PCB layout and Gerber files .. no conflict.. no problem.. <shrug>.. I can only guess..

Have any of you tried VM6.0 yet? Alibre is offering a good deal right now. Seeing that I have switched to Alibre Professional V10 as of late I was wondering about VM6.0 with 5 Axis machining capability.

You can look at it here

I am particularly concerned about how good the Post Processors are and Editing Capabilities.

I will be machining parts like these.

Toby, I switched to visual mill from bcv22. I like it alot. So much easier to use than bc. The post is very easy to edit. I am only using for three axis though.

Toby

I revisited Alibre's website and checked out AlibreCAM Pro now that I finally upgraded to VM6Pro.
It appears that AlibreCam is still VM5 based. You will be missing out on a lot of new features compared to VM6 Pro, especially in the 4 axis module. Although your parts appear to be 3+1 parts anyway.

BTW VM6 Pro has an extensive toolpath editor which works really well IMO.
