    HHHMMMMM How Do I ?????

    Hello to all,

What do I have to do to ensure visualmill 5.0 always works to the inside or outside of all lines?

I am cutting out some formers for floats. The are basically triangles with lightening holes on the inside of them ( 2 circles).

Ok So I have draw the 7 different formers is Cad 2008 and given the inside and outside a different layer. that is so I can select the inside or the outside to cut.

Put the dxf in VM and selected the inside of the holes. ??? Now why would 8 of the 10 holes set the profile to the inside and 2 to the outside? AAAHHHHH CR*&P.

I would love to know how to set it up in cad to tell visual mill OK this is what I want to keep and you can cut out this material.

    Please help

    Thanks

    Prboz

    You have 2 choices here...

    1) In VM5, you will need to select the offending profiles (those that don't want to cut inside) and reverse the direction of the curve - it's in the edit curve tab, reverse curves.

If you have a decent CAD program, it may allow you to "uniformize" the cutout curve directions before exporting - they all need to be clockwise or counterclockwise depending on how you machine.

    or,
    2) upgrade to VM6 and inside the machining operation, select "inside/outside for closed regions" and check inside - no need to modify the profiles.
