I found this tutorial on coding4fun , the tutorial includes some basic sourcecode for C# & VB.net 2005, on how to use the inpout32.dll . I havn't tried this yet, but it looks cool. Tutorial : 1) http://blogs.msdn.com/coding4fun/arc...6/5474143.aspx Also you might like to check out the authors blog, he has a lot of cool projects, like my favorite, the "Laser Tracker". 2) http://ashishrd.blogspot.com/ .

yep this seems the way to comunicate thru the port but there seems to be little written for the U$B isee that either use four lines and do the step logic yourself or use a geniric chip and send step and dir like kcam i am working on a lathe style prog input revs opticly or in quaduture and output the trackerrod as stepsperev

Very good Switcher. Maybe you could post some little projects using the CNC Brain software as the project. Like you posted one on the Brain forum but it would be cool to see a step my step of how you did it. I downloaded VB, and I am now starting with and trying to learn a little as I go. Sense I ordered a Brain I will need to know this plus it will help with other things that use VB. I have messed around with it, like I added a "Find My Brain" button on the interface of the Brain software . But I had no idea how to assign it to something so I could learn how to make it work. I was starting to go through more tut's when my computor went south. I have now built and reloaded a new comp but I still have a lot to reload to get back where I was. If I remember right I still need to load SQL 2005 server or something which I will need with VB, and there is probably other things I need. I will check out the links you provided and get back started on my tuts. Jess

Switcher, sorry for the late reply but my email has gone crazy and I had to stop email notifications of threads to get a handle on my email. As far as the Brain, a window with the tool paths & the ability to run a off line G code like Mach3 would be cool. Alll though this might be a bit deep for a project right now. Really I have been waiting for 7 weeks on my CNC Brain to get here so it might not be worth working on projects for it at this time. Until it comes through I don't really want to spend time on it, but I do want to keep learning with VB. I really have got this coding bug bad, but I am afriad I am trying to learn electronics and coding at the same time and thats a bit much for me. Anyway lets get back to the stepper motor tuts. The one limk is dead but I went to the authors blog and found one for a stepper motor. Looks pretty simple and i would like to go through this one and learn. All though I am not sure I understand exactly what he is doing. The circuit is simple enough, I can handle that (I think). He gave a bit of code to use. Is he using this code in VB ? How is it setup to be used ? I mean I am not sure how he gets the code to execute (if that makes any sense). Does he build a Windows form with a couple of buttons? A little guidance would be great, I have a few steppers here and enough IC's,transisters, resistors and power supply to pull off his circuit. His diagram looks to have a miss print, it shows two +12 connections and I think one may should have been a -12 connection. Here is a link to the one I found, it may not be the one you was refering to IDK. With the link you listed gone dead I may have missed the right one. Step tut Thanks Jess
