monitoring / resetting faults via rs232

i couldn't find an easy way to monitor and or reset a drive that faults using the rs232 connection. is there a way to do this?

i have a nice Usb -> 8 serial box that i have hooked up to all 4 of my drives. I'd like to add something into Mach to monitor and allow me to reset the drives without using extra hardware (leds, switches, I/O)

are there any hidden features of the drives?

You can reset the drive via serial with the 'X' command. You would need to connect the Fault out to a input pin of your BOB to see when there is a fault.

But you can't gang the RS232 RX and TX lines together on multiple drives. You would have to make a multiplexer circuit or use multiple serial ports.

right, I have a separate port for all of my drives

can you include a fault status as a firmware revision?
