| Wow! What a nice clean design. Wouldn't that make a wonderful table top mill for jewelers? I wonder what it would look like with sliding chip covers as used on many VMCs instead of bellows. Something like these: http://www.cnczone.com/forums/showpo...4&postcount=83 |

| Hey Starleper, How are you doing, is you`re VMC still going strong? Remember we had a pretty direct discussion about the frame connections through bolts and the open design in your thread. Did it worked out for you, would like to know if you had any problems with chatter etc. Have to say the endresult sure looks nice, wish i was at that stage with my machine.
Only difference is that this machine is a lot smaller, table is only 230 x 135 mm. The outer dimensions off the machine are 500 x 500 x 500 mm, ( so 20 x 20 x 20 Inch ). The L-frame is only 200 mm wide ( 8 Inch ) Spindle diameter is 30 mm with a max. endmill off 6 mm. Complete machine is made off Epoxy Granite, also the connection between y and x axes. Allready have 3 Kuroda GP1002 c3 preloaded spindles, 12 THK HSR12P wagons and 6 rails and the NSK NR3060S main spindle with Maxon 250watt motor, all new through ebay. Think this will be the final design, only have to do some face milling and tapping some holes for the rails etc. I dont have any machine over here so i have to pay all the machining and that costs a LOT! Had bought a China spindle but i`m not happy with it, same for machined parts from China for another design i made. (price for the parts was great, paid and then they told me the extra cost for shipping, Man that was a lot, happy they refunded me the initial money) Kind regards, Roy |

http://www.gortite.com/bellows/gordillo.html Would have to find an extra Job for it....!!! LOL. For a Jewelery it would be great since it has a high speed spindle (25000RPM) XYZ is 200 X 125 x 85 mm. Weight around 65 KG. Been looking on ebay for 3 years now, total price will be around 3K euro incl controller etc. all new products with high precision, BLDC`s etc. Will be great, only costs a lot off time and patience to get it perfect. |

The goal is to pour the epoxy in 3 moulds, the inserts will stick out for 4mm. The epoxy with inserts is then placed on a mill and faced flat and (parallel for y x) then drilled and tapped in the right pattern. The upper and bottom frame will be bolted on a JIG on there inserts and then glued together with Moglice DWH310FL wich is designed for this stuff. After that i bolt everything on and align and it has to work...?!? Connection between rails and frame will be glued the same way to make good transfur off forces. |

I don't really have any chatter issues. I still want to make up some polyurethane mounts to sit it on. I still have a long ways to go before I can call it a VMC. I'm back and fourth on ATC designs, I still need to make an enclosure, which I changed my mind on about 5 times so far. My big thing right now is making a new spindle. Keep your eye out for a new thread appearing soon on my spindle build. ~Scott |

Spindles, i dream spindles (heard that before...) Would love to design 1 myself, but i dont dare... Would be nice to make a good thread about it, are you going to machine yourself of bring the design to a machine shop? Was reading your thread a few seconds ago and had a laugh about the hole discussion. Nice to read a not personal forum. (not). |

I'm debating weather I want to stick with the wimpy X2 motor or go with a Servo. |

You have to buy a BLDS from kelinginc for cheap, there are nice BLDC drives on ebay for cheap without step/direction but then analog. |

| Nice draws! But again and again this upside-down Y axis! My opinion is that Y axis must to be turned contrariwise - rails up and wagons down - then you´ll get useful and long milling table wheres milling area always on the centre. At that only like that you can use 4-th axis in fyture (rotary table and tailstok). Regards, Herbert |
