Why isn't anyone making a pneumatic drawbar for R-8 or 30 taper knee mills? I have made some sketches to see if there is enough room inside the spindle quill, and I think it is quite possible. The R-8 taper is probably a little too steep to disengage without having some help to "pop" it out, This might also be a bit scarry to eject your tools. but the ct/bt-30 would surely be a candidate for this, think of how easy it is to load your ct/bt style tooling in the cnc machines with the push of a button(electric solenoid-->pneumatic cylinder-->bellville washers). for all of the CNC knee mill guys wanting a tool changer it could become reality, or for the guys like me that just want a nice quick manual toolchange (no wrenches, no kurt style impact wrenches, no quick change adapters to add to tool length).
let me know what you think, as if there is much interest, I will design and build a working prototype to retrofit bridgeport style knee mills.

Rick,
As far I understand the one on EBAY you linked to is exactly the type (impact wrench) that crabbass doesn't want. What he's aiming for is a springloaded drawbar for holders with a pullstud on top of it. I'd love one for my ISO40 (DIN2080) spindle, basically making it into a BT40 spindle.
