muddobber76,
If you connect the steppers using bipolar drives you can wire them to use (4) four wires, that would simplify all your wiring, connectors, cables & plugs.
Do you already have the stepper drives for this project?
Jeff...
What do you guys use and/or recommend for stepper motor connection plugs, sockets, cables etc.?
My setup is a diy electronics enclosure and diy cnc vertical mill.
4 Axis
Nema34 425-625oz/in steppers
8 wire
48v 12amp power range
Thanks!!

Patience and perseverance have a magical effect before which difficulties disappear and obstacles vanish.
I don't have the drives yet but plan on Geko or Keling.
I need them wired to obtain the most torque.
muddobber76,
1: Bipolar will produce the most torque.
2: (4) four wire, wiring configuration is the only way you can connect to a Gecko or Keling drive anyway.

connect them bipolar parallel
Yea, I am intrested to know what type "style" of cables and connections you guys are using; microphone,DB15 etc. to connect from controller to machine.
Muddobber76,
I like the high current capacity d-sub connectors.
They are available all the way up to 30 amps.
The 10 amp model will work with almost any stepper
you can throw at it.

hi does anyone know what problem a message saying unable to configure hard drive controller would indicate. im thinking that there is a problem with the motherboard on the system. It is on a acu rite millpwr system. any ideas???
Sounds like a driver issue .
Although if your running a really old Mobo that could be an issue.
You werent very specific with your hardware / O.S specs...
Download the newest drivers from the motherboard manufacturer and see if theyll work.
If this is an O.S install issue, you may have to slipstream your O.S install disk to add the appropriate drivers depending on which O.S your running .
Google slipstreaming an operating system.
Personally Id just use the Win 7 release candidate, its free and still good for another 7 months...
Works fine for me.
