Hello people, Here is the machine i want to make in the future. Dimensions are in mm and the travel is 120, 70, 70 (xyz). Main target is milling precision parts till 6mm endmill. Parts that could pimp my rc car. preloaded guides, ground ballscrews (backlash 0,003) nsk spindle (4 a/c bearings, max 6mm, 30000rpm) nema17 steppers, with new small geckodrives. fogbuster cooling system and epoxy granite base with cast iron inserts. All other parts are cast iron and grounded on critical area`s. 27 kg a picture of the mill and the donor car. | For the parts you are going to make for that car I think that it is a great mill idea about time we see someone who knows that a machine must be solid the only part that I see that I personally would make a little more solid is the neck to your router but otherwise I think that machine looks alot tougher then a taig or one of those other weak machines. Good job |

| Looks nice! I like it... Is 27 Kg the all up weight? It looks much heavier - my latest toy is only slightly bigger but would easily top 60 kg and it's mostly aluminium. Which NSK spindle will you use? I have the E3000 with the pneumatic tool change and am very happy with it. It has to be said it's not the most powerful spindle though. When does construction start - do you have a budget? Looking forward to seeing more ![]() Regards, Jason |

The total weight is 27 kg, which of 18 is used for the base. The inserts are on a precision mould, so the structure that is taking the forces of milling is around 18 kg. The tangent milling forces are max around 50 Newton in my application. The spindle i want to use is the nr-2532, i want to power it with a sensored brushless motor out of the rc hobby, programmeble throught mach 3. (around 300watt continues, 300 dollar incl. drive, heat cooled with water). The problem is the budget, because i`m a student (third and last study). The machine is designed around 2 parameters, low budget and precision. 2 things that almost never go together, It fits the application and nothing more. No hurry with the job of milling. I think the taig and other have to much compromises. minitech is nice but i can buy at least a few of mine for the money 1 machine of them costs. Investors are always welcom, if we make lets say 5 it will be very interesting. Kind regards, Roy B. |

| Hi Roy, Can I ask what are your speed, feed, DOC and cutter for the 50N max cutting force? Looking forward to seeing your spindle too - I've often wondered how that configuration would go - I even bought the parts but just haven't had the time to devote to putting it together. There was some discussion in another thread recently on that method. I don't think there's any reason you can't have low cost and precision if you are prepared to put in the work yourself. Minitech et al would have put thousands of hours work into their designs, surely they need to recoup some of that cost with each machine. You mentioned investors - are you planning to produce the machine commercially? Do you have a target price?
