are you going to use the stock way covers? My way covers are beat to ----, but I could probably fix that. The plastic guides are pretty much gone though, so I'm not sure how much good the covers are going to do.

The rubber covers for the Y are bad so I will just get some new rubber sheet and use that. The X ways are in pretty good shape they are the steel telescoping kind. Just the rubber wipers on the steel covers turned hard and fell off.

sorry, it was the X I was referring to. The rubber wipers on mine are in really bad shape. So you feel ok about using those covers without the rubber parts?

I will run it with out the rubber wipers and if a lot of chips start getting to the ways I will search for some time rubber edging the will fit in there.

I was searching for replacements, and someone said they are Teleflex by Goretite. They have a repair service, but it probably costs as much as my mill.

It would be nice if they'd just sell the rubber strips.

Finally got the mill mostly done!

Servo drives tuned well for now. The power drawbar working very nicely. Got the cnc4pc board controlling the spindle well. Need to finish organizing the wiring and make some covers for a few spots and that will be it.

I used the old housing that had the buttons for the screen. It was fixed but I made it higher so the chips don't get to the keyboard and it also rotates.

The buttons closer to the spindle are the E-Stop and reset above. The Orange button with the Green and Red light above is for the power drawbar. When the spindle is in tool change position the orange and green light are on the orange means the spindle is in tool change position and the green means the spindle lock for is out. When you push the button to release the tool the fork locks the spindle and the big air cylinder pushes down the draw bar and the red light is on to indicate the fork is in.

The machine over all.

The brains. Top left are the Viper DC drives with the caps. Below a C11G BOB. And a relay board for future gear change upgrade. The big transformer is 240 to 120 the smaller one is 120 to 65 for the drives. And a small transformer for 12 and 24 volts. Right of that is the main E-Stop contactor. The relays below the big transformer are for the power drawbar.

Dennis,
first of all good job. I hope you are making a lot of chips......
how about a update on the larkin drives.
also. Did you just bolt heatsinks on the back of them.
what is the green thing in the middle of the last picture
you might want to take a look at my build. I just updated the pictures and posted to The mach3 site and here as well

My stone business has been pretty slow so I was focusing more on that. I made a little bit of chips. A few days after I finished the setup i was jogging the Z up and forgot to enable soft limits and hit the travel end a blew the Z drive. So I bought another newer version with hardware protection so it will not happed again at least that is was Larry said. But it was running well when I did use it.
Also im moving the stone business to different location so everything is packed up right now.
The green thing is a relay board that I was going to use for the speed change gearbox. But I will get some solid state relays instead.
