    Need advice for CNC purchase.

I am looking to buy a couple small cnc machines to make some small aluminum parts. I have a very limited budget, so I have been trying to find a used mini lathe, and mini mill. I haven't had much luck yet, and was wondering if someone here could send me in the right direction. I don't know a whole lot about electronics, so I haven't really persued CNC retrofits. Are there some good sites to find used CNC mini or hobby equipment?

Do a GOOGLE for "DIY CNC".

    Also do "CNC retrofit".

Look deep into the search, don't stop after one or two pages.

Lots of home brew CNC projects on line.

$$$'s depends on size of machine you want and amount of sophistication.

Nice retrofit packages are found on this site. Check out AjaxCNC and Mach.

Decide on stepper or servo drive.

STUDY, STUDY, STUDY. Learn the lingo. You'll know what to buy when you learn the lingo and you'll see what the packages will do and at what cost. Everything has a compromise or a price associated therewith.

Go forth and prosper (or something like that)....

This forum is for posting project logs etc; general questions would be better off in theother forum as more people will see it
