Hello,
I am about to build my first CNC vertical mill and I would like some advice.
I thought about using a Proxxon KT150 table for the xy axes and a KT70 table for the z axis with a Proxxon BFW40/E mill/drill mounted on the KT70 table. This way I will have 150mm on the x and y axis and 134mm on the z axis.
I plan to machine aluminum and plastic parts. Also I plan to do a bit of engraving.
My concern is that the KT70 table is too flimsy to handle the BFW40/E. The mill/drill unit weighs 4.2Kg according to the specs.
I know there is the Proxxon recommended option with the KT150, BFW40/E and the BFB200 stand but I don't know how good the z axis accuracy would be with that.
I thought about this option because I need something lightweight (I have to store it when I don't use it. I don't have a shop so I can't give it a permanent spot somewhere in the house) and quiet (I read about the BFW40/E that is very quiet) so I don't disturb the neighbors.
In the end it will cost the same or a bit more than an Einhell BT-MR 550 but that weighs over 70 Kg and is very loud (approximately 90dB).
What do you think about my idea?
And I also have a few other questions:
1. Are the Proxxon tables and mills made in Germany or China?
2. How bad is the backlash on these 2 tables?
3. Do you have any other suggestions about the tables? I am not set on the KT150 and KT70 but I did not really find other options as cheap as these in the European Union (I limit myself to the EU because of taxes)
