A BIG thank you to everyone

Today I ran the first test of my newly built granite surface plate lathe, I have this great board and everyone who contibuted to it to thank.....and blame

First test 750rpm 150mm/min 1mm DOC in 40mm Dia Delrin.

The lathe is based on a 24" x 24" x 4" granite plate I found on eBay with 8x30mm M4 threaded inserts epoxied in place.

The Linear Rails are Hiwin 15mm and the ballscrews are chinese brand 12mm Dia 4mm pitch screws.

The motors are 170Nm motors paired to a G540 with a 30v power supply running on Mach 3.

I used ground flat steel tooling plate for all the risers and table.

The headstock is from my old 7x lathe with taper roller bearings fitted and uses a 1.5HP 3 phase motor.

    think thats everything

I will try and answer any questions and give a little help back

    **Update**

Whew never had so difficult a subject, so many shiny things that the flash just loves to bounce off.

Oh and as you can see it needs a lot more work till it is totally complete, or at least I think so.

hence posting in the build log I will try and keep this log updated with improvements and refinements and maybe the odd video or two.
