Hello every one
Here I post some pics and details of my DIY lathe..

Z axis linear bearing adjust.
Spindle motor and inverter, ~1.5kw.
I love how simplistic the design is. Could you provide more in depth details about your headstock setup?
thanks josh
this diagram is what I almost build my headstock according to
after welding the head stock box sides together and sealed the inside and outside with thermal-silicon, I filled the box with lubrication oil up to the level of the hollow shaft.
this 10$ breakout board that I used to connect my lath to Mach3, you can recognize that it has 0-10v inverter speed control, what helped me to make mach3 control the spindle speed perfectly.
I made a PCB that connected to a photo interruption sensor to count the spindle RPM, the output of the PCB goes to the (Index) input signal in Mach3 through the breakout board.
Later, I upgraded the index PCB to larger PCB that contain a control circuit of 5 relay output control in addition of the index circuit, I use #1 and #2 as spindle CW and CCW direction control, other relay outputs may used in coolant bump and other stuff.
I used 4.2A stepper motors, and a new Toshiba 6600 based stepper drivers (~15$) (5A), now I can run my axis up to ~3000 mm/Minute, this is enough for me.
X Axis bed.
Sorry, I have a couple more questions. What bearings did you use and did you make the shaft or buy it?
I think you are missing the bed..
Very different, thats for sure.
When do you hope to do a test cut ?
Whats teh spindle Hp ?
Dear Josh
I used cone bearings (tapered bearings), and I made the shaft my self, I used a hard and thick (10mm) pipe, and welded a flange at the chuck end, more details in pics, please feel free to ask any more questions.
using a hollow shaft allow me to machine long stocks.
Dear Han,
I post the project step by step, later I'll post other steps that show the complete project and allot of fun details such as DIY tool holders and other interesting stuff
The lathe now works fine and I had already cut some jobs, soon I'll post videos of test cut.
The spindle is ~2HP, I think it need more power, may be I upgrade it later, excuse me for not making the perfect choices as this it my 1st DIY lathe.
I think it looks great. You have plenty of room on the X for gang tools. My home made lathe only has about 5" X travel. It is enough for my use, but were I to do over, it would have more. Maybe double that.
Looking good though. You used some nice parts.
