For anyone that filed a dispute with PayPal, please post your story in BOTH of these threads, or start your own and lest all post there also.
A hard lesson to learn. The rule is 45 days. I don't like it either but the rule is the rule.
As long as you are within the 45 day limit Paypal is relentless and normally sides with the buyer. Your only hope is legal action to recoup the money. I am not sure but even if you had used your credit card with buyer protection there is a time limit of around 45 days.
I made a large purchase with a different seller and after they screwed up the delivery attempt 3 or 4 times, I finally called Paypal and explained to them what was going on. I then asked that the transaction be canceled. I then remembered that I had used my charge card, something that I normally don't do with Paypal. Between them the order was canceled. I had one very unpleasant phone call from the delivery company but that was the end of it.
