    Feedback on K2 CNC?

I hope this is in the right section. I've narrowed my choices down to a K2 machine and a comparable one from Techno.

I'm not as much interested in asking if I am ordering the correct machine for my application, I have that covered I think. I'm more interested in finding out the reputation of these companies AFA service after the sale and also reliability of their machines.

Any K2/Techno owners out there care to give a brief "I'd buy from them again" or "Once bitten, twice shy" is all I'm looking for. I don't need a detailed story, just looking to see if there's a consensus in the CNC world regarding either of these companies.

As is evident all things CNC is new to me, but I am have to make the best decision I can with time I have to make it. Thanks for any input. My gut feeling based on what little research I've had time to do is that they are both reputable upstanding companies, but would like any feedback I can get.

    To whom it may concerne:

I recently was in the same situation as you.
I couldn't deside which company to go with K2 cnc or Techno,
as I reserched K2 cnc was my choice.
I was able to get more for the money. So I purchase a 48 x 48 table with a 3 hp Colombo spindle. I now have the machine for over 6 months and not yet had a problem on the machine. Evertime I make a phone call to ask questions and get help there always there. So K2 CNC has a AAA from me. I make ukulele neck bridges fretboars and lots of other parts for my ukulele with my K2 cnc.
    Best investment

Thanks for your reply. It seems kind of funny we both have only one post.

What the heck were you googling to end up here only to answer my one single post?

Well I was browsing the net looking for some information on some cnc tools.
I came across your message and I decide to answer since I have a k2cnc.

If you need any information or help with programming and fixture building I have a few contact you might be interested in.
I had all my cnc cad drawings and cam programming done for me.
I also had hold down fixtures built specificly to hold down ukulele necks.
Since I didn't know much about the cnc world
I now make necks for other luthiers in Hawaii.
    Best regards
    Ray

I have two K2 CNCs which I use for building solid body basses and guitars, signs for local businesses and some furniture work.

One is a KG3925 and one is the KG5050

We bought the KG5050 because we had so much success with the smaller machine and were really happy with the helpful and responsive customer and technical service provided by the staff at K2.

No regrets at all on these machines. They are accurate and reliable reliable (I chose ballscrews over rack and pinion for my type of work) and there's really nothing on these machines that a savvy user can't replace. The construction is rigid and well thought out. I have been using K2 machines for almost 4 years.

My experience with the solid aluminum (slab) table has been better than with the t-slot table, which is not as consistently flat (I have one of each) but that could be simply due to the type of work I do, and not a failing of the t-slot product. T-slot is a quicker clamping solution, but I often rely on the flat surface as a datum.

I think K2 offers a lot for the money, and having the bigger machine has allowed us to diversify into other types of work I hadn't planned to do!

    Hi,

I own 3 K2 machines. 2525, 3925, and a 5025. Great value for the money and easy to maintain. All machines are configured with ballscrews and a PDS spindle. Very reliable and great customer service.

    Regards,

    TMR

    Ray,

Yes, thank you for the offer I am always open to learning as much as I can, and making as many contacts as possible. I will PM you. I have a few contacts on the islands as well. I trade wood with a few woodworkers and luthiers there. I have a highly desirable rare species of wood and they send me curly koa, monkeypod, milo etc. in return.

I'm not a luthier but have two woodworking-related businesses online, and my wife has recently gotten in to turning, so I trade for all these exotic woods for her hobby.

    Watson,

That's good news. I have decided on their new model, the KTS-4014. It was made as they say "with the cue makers in mind" but as it turns out it should be the perfect machine for my application. I believe I got a very fair deal on it price wise.

I had pretty much already decided on it when I made this post, but I wanted to get any last minute confirmation I could on the company, although as I said I had a really good feeling about both companies from having talked to them both extensively. I'm going to wire the money today.

Thank you both for your input.

    TMR,

Thank you as well. I was still typing when you posted (I'm slow). Someone who owns three machines from the same company is a strong testimony.
