I want a refund !

I purchased Bobcad v22 last year. I can't get it to generate workable, trustable g-code, nor function stable enough to be any use, so I still write g-code manually. I've not been able to use a single piece of code generated by Bobcad. Bobcad is totally useless to me. And their support staff tells me that the software is expected to crash. At least, that was one idiot who said that.

The bigger problem is that now, every few weeks or month, I get a call from Bobcad trying to sell me something. I've told the idiots that I will NOT give them a single penny until they fix the problems and I request they do not call me with any more sales calls until I get what I paid for already working. And I usually get assurances that someone will call me to fix the issues.

But weeks later, I'll only get another sales call. Now they've stopped calling regarding selling me more support and are calling me now to sell me other products -- yesterday's call from Ralph Beecham (Breecham?) was to sell me BobArt. Again, he told me someone will call me to fix the issues I have.

Legally, after my first request to stop calling me to sell me more crap, this is harassment. And I've had 3 or 4 such calls since that first request, and I make it point on each call to remind them not to call me to sell me anything else, but to call so that they can fix the problem. I've determined that Bobcad will not fix the product I've already purchased and it's time to request a refund. Refund my money, and let's go our separate ways.

Anyone know who I can call for this? Or how can I reach the owner of Bobcad? I tried calling them yesterday, but I only get a general mailbox, and past experience tells me that they don't return messages I've left in the general mailbox. I am very pissed off about this now.

Sorry to hear that. The Bobcad sales guys are as relentless as they are unknowledgable.

I would recommend filing a detailed (and honest) report with the BBB (better business bureau. I believe their website is http://www.clearwater.bbb.org. I ran into problems with BobCAD sales which I felt were unethical and fraudulent and, not surprisingly, saw numerous complaints filed with the BBB.

The attached PDF outlines their refund policy. Sounds like you have a case to get your money refunded given their criteria.

What sucks is that even when they decide to give you a refund because their software is junk they will charge you a 10% restocking fee.

Can't imagine anyone buying this stuff after visiting the CNCZone.

Sorry to hear of your frustration, I to went through the same pain your going through four years ago, my biggest mistake was to listen to the salesman and upgrade to the next version for more money only to find out I still could not use bob cad to generate code for my cnc. I decided to save myself a stroke and buy Enroute3, Very nice program for the money.

When offered a license to purchase with my SX3 machine, I tried the demo and decided it was not for me. Because I downloaded the demo I was hounded by the BC sales people for months. There is a lot of crappy CAM sh1t out here.
Buyers beware. Try the demos. Ask other users.

After using my v22 for a while, and getting used to it's quirks i.e. save regularly....etc...
I really think it is a good buy when you take into consideration..bang for buck!!!
I mean as a hobbyist, I don't think you want to spend 10k on a cad software, and you'd probably have the time needed to work out the workarounds to make it function as you desire!

I have not used v21, but from the way it sounds, listening to others on-line in other forums, that may be a more feasible way to go....try the free d.l. from their website http://www.bobcad.com

Caller ID will eliminate this problem. When an undesired caller calls me the phone flashes RED, and then Orange for regular callers. The phone is a Panasonic 5.8 GHz Model number KX-TG5439 which is about two or three years old now. The newer models are even better.

http://www.alibre.com/ try it free and get the alibre cam express free. This is what I use for professional design and cnc programming.

I almost got suckered into buying Bobcad. While some of the features look good and with the sale pitch I recieved I went as far as ordering BC. But thankfully I cancelled the order the next day and I am glad I did. As a home Hobbyist I couldn't see paying 500 dollars for software on a home brewed hobby machine.

I use Kcam and can honestly say I am very impressed with it. I am no expert by any means but Kcam drives my machine and converts my dxf files without any hassle. When I need help I asked the Kcam forum questions and recieved answers in a timely and professional manner. I had some issues in the beginning and my emails were responded to by Kelly who always knew what was wrong or :-) (what I did wrong)... I also use Cambam to clean up drawings and it works well for me. The cost of the two was far less than BC. I only wish BobCad would stop calling me. I get a sales call roughly once a month, thank God for caller ID.

if they like to call so often and talk then kick back with your after work beer and give them a call everyday , you don t have to talk about their software ,ask them how the weather is or call them to tell them how your sick kid kept you up all nite , maybe they'd be interested how last nites cooking plugged you up for the day , maybe they might have a solution for that kind of a problem , i'm sure sooner or later they will be so sick of you that they sure as heck won t be calling you , tit 4 tat
