    Smile with selecting vectors

Hi everyone new to cut 2d problem is this i select my vectors says i have open vectors i get them all closed. So the drawing side says and it says there are no open vectors in this drawing i go to the cam side try to do a tool path it says there are 2 open vectors go back try to find them can not be found. So i run the tool path it shows all the tool path for the whole part actually six of the same part in a row .When i run the save tool path and transfer to mach half the geometry is missing and the rest of the tool path what gives?I bought it just for the tabs for one part that i was having a problem with binding on the final pass.Anyone have a idea as to what i might be doing wrong. thanks dusty

    Hi Dusty,
I think you are using a copy of the required toolpaths 6 times in your drawing if I am reading your message correctly? I think the easiest way to do this and not have any opened vectors is to edit the first complete set of vectors you draw and close all the vectors before you copy and paste it to the other locations.
When you select a vector or set of vectors that has been closed all of those vectors will be highlighted with a single click of the mouse. If you select a set of vectors that you think are closed and all of them do not get highlighted it is a clue that those vectors are not closed and you need to do some more work with them to find the problem area and fix it. Sometimes you will need to perhaps select the 2 vectors of the set you want closed and then right click and select the 'join vectors' command to connect the 2 selected vectors. You may have to do this several times to fix the opened vectors and then you will be able to use the 'close vectors' command to get the set of vectors closed.
This is not the typical way it works, but there are instances when vectors that appear to be closed and connected will be easy to see are not connected or closed if you zoom in close on what looks like the intersection points of the vectors. Many times I will find the lines do not actually touch and are not connected when zoomed in close, but from the regular view it all looks good. You can usually find the problem spot by zooming in on all the vectors. I hope something I have posted helps you, but if not or if you have other questions please ask them. I am also glad to try and fix the file if you can not figure it out, and you can send it to me at: wes.spence@comcast.net
I will be glad to try and fix it and attach an explanation of what was done if needed.

Hi Wes thanks for helping all the part shapes were imported as one file no copying or pasting .Any way i got it to output correctly after zooming in and going over every line and arc segment man i hope this is not the norm it sure is tedious and takes forever.I then did the close all vectors anyway it is still doing the same thing as before all vectors closed and it says no open vectors in geom. and go to cam side it says two open vectors any way i was able to get it to out put a good code have not cut it yet we will see what happens. Thanks for the help i need to get a post modified for tool changing and what ever can i open the post and modify it my self and if so in what program .

What are you doing the drawing in? Sounds like a better drawing would fix the problem?

    Hello Dusty,
I believe the PostProcessor can be modified/edited in Notebook, but I have not done anything like that yet myself. You may want to contact Vectric support and they should be able to help you with any specific changes you would like to make. If you are a member of the Vectric forum you may even find the information about editing post processors in the information posted on the forums. If you are not yet a member I would encourage you to join as there is a wealth of information available there and the members are very willing to help others. Good luck with the project.

Also send me the file and I will be glad to take a look at it and try to fix it? wes.spence@comcast.net
