devoted vcarve user here. I cut mainly machinable wax for foundry patterns and was having trouble getting a good cut. Letters wer muddy and misshaped etc. I tried everything- many hours spent adjusting the backlash out of my homenmade machine( worthwhile in itself). Nothing helped.

Last night I am teaching my daughter to use vcarve to do some medallians she wants. As I am explaining the tool database and bring up the 'v-bit 60 deg .25' that I use 90 percent of the time, it suddenly jumped out at me--- the bit was set to 90 degrees!!!!! OMG! Talk about feeling silly. I had changed laptops to get a very light one ( big time busted leg- long recovery) ( an Eee PC- reccomended) I somehow changed the setting.

Got a new medallion to do so recompute with correct settings and just cut a test--beautiful!

I guess what I'm saying is CHECK YOUR ASSUMPTIONS when you have a problem. Its the little one that will screw you.

Hi Dave,

I'm guessing you are running an older version of VCarve Pro because we had
a release that installed a 'faulty' Tool Database. The 60 degree V-Bit was set to have an included angle of 90 degrees - as you have found out - Very sorry about that
