    Cool v-carve pro-x trial

I have downloaded the V-carve pro-x trail version , when I tried to create a v-carve toolpath of a dxf file , I receive a (open vector warning)making it impossible to create the toolpath. When the file is open in another cad software it does seem to chain select ok.

Also does the full version has a window to see and edit the G-code ?

You can do a "Profile (Outside/Inside/On)" the open vectors in VCP 4.6

If you want to select all the open vectors & do a profile:

Right click the drawing area "Select All Open Vectors" then do a profile pass for everything that's open, all in a single go.

No window for g-code, you'll have to open in a text editor (Notepad, etc...)

You also have an option to close vectors, depends on the project (If you really want them closed or not) like a simple box you might want to close, a line drawing you wouldn't really want to close the open vectors.

    Cool open vectors

This is the drawing I want to produce a v-carve toolpath with. I want to use a V-cutter for this, I am looking for a single line 3d toolpath. I can select open vector the way you said, but how do you close vectors?
The close vector option is not hilighted (with a line/with a smooth curve/move end point)

The reason you can't join them is because the endpoints don't meet. If you zoom in really, really close, you'll see that the ends don't touch, or they overlap. You also have some duplicate lines there as well. I looked at a couple different spots, and none of them lined up. It'll take some work to get it all cleaned up.

Would this be close to what you are looking for?

    ***Deleted link to picture***

If so I did a on line profile cut with a v bit. Dept of .01

I did not do any clean up, I ignored the open/duplicate vector error box when it opened.

No, I am looking for a 3d toolpath that would carve inside each island in one pass with a v-cutter.

I can see some open gap in the drawing but only in v-carve , in bob-cad I dont see them. Is there a chain gap setting in v-carve ?
Could this be cause by different dxf file version?

I did some clean-up of the file here but only one island dont select when I select all open vector...

I looked in AutoCAD. It's not caused by the .dxf version. What did you create the file with?

You can set your own tolerance inside VCP, to join vectors.

I see what your problem is, you have duplicate vectors on most of your DXF file.

    1) Start a fresh file inside VCP

    2) Open your tribal DXF inside VCP

    3) Delete all Duplicate vectors

    4) Join all Open vectors

    Just a suggestion.

If you have a jpeg, or bitmap of the eagle, it might be a lot less work to let VCP, do a image trace. If you do the trace inside of VCP you won't have any open vectors, or duplicate vectors.
