    ok fellows!!!

this is the panel james booth has provided for me to display at camaster booth IWF 08, after retrofiting the machine and joshes help in tuning it, i am real happy with the results. i used cut 3d for the file and ran it the way it was sent to me, james even taught me to flip it with the software for a right and left effect!!

Jim Grapes seems grapes but i can't say it a good piece of artwork...Sorry for blunt critique...
It seems james booth did some rough work on it... Grapes are not round and leaves do not show up real beauty..I can't expect such quality from great VectorArt 3D site

Just check attached pic and download and zoom in it..You will fine great detail in it...

    I have some questions:

How many tools u used for finishing the grapes work?..It seems you did the complete job with single bigger size ball nose tool, may be this is the reason the detailing not comes out well...

How long it took to complete the complete work?

    What IPM it was cut?

How many passes you made to cut the workpiece?

    This is my Opinion...

    watching your work in awe!

kahlid, this is the first 3d i have run on my machine after the retrofit. the 1/2 steppers were losing steps before, while i do appeciate the critique i must take exception with the following,

the wood i have used for the first one is arkansas pine prone to fuzz abit. (what type of wood did you use?) the stems with in the leaves on your carve are positive to the file, not negative as on mine. james booth has not released this on his site this was a favor to me at my request and looking at the product i am real happy so far!!!

i have a lot to learn about carving with a cnc

i carved at 100 ipm in one pass
    1/8 ballnose bit
    12000 spindle speed

i did blow up the file you sent and after studying it with mine in actual i can see the photos i have produced do not do it justice!!

futher it looks more to me to be subjective as to the artist (to which i claim not!!) and the desire of the file writer, while i feel yours looks great i feel mine does too! am i the judge i prefer not!!

i'd like to see more of your 3d, i have been watching you for some time and have untill now thought you were working in 2d only

    again thanks

    jim mcgrew

    maybe this is better

Okay...I will suggest to reduce ur IPM and acceleration to get rid of lost steps.

The work i attached earlier is not created by me nor machined by me....I created similar type of 3D work on my Chest bench currently with carpenter for polishing.... I am using Mango wood that quality is far worse as compare to Pine wood .... As soon as my chest bench arrives i will put snapshot here..

Still i am learning..I am making 3D designs with Artcam Pro, and my work is pretty bad.. I am in learning phase so take my critique in +ve..I am not a specialist

I think 100IPM is rapid moves only, bcos of 3D contouring it will reduce somewhere to 30IPM, i guess.. I think the complete panel will be completed after 12Hr's machining?????

Yaa.. the right photography really give prestige to ur work.. You should take various photographs with different angle and lighting and chooose the best to post or show to ur customers...again this is my opinion...no offence at all

I know how much happy you will be at the time of machining of this grape relief.....You have shown many persons around and felt so much proud... Offcourse when some one make -ve comments on work it irritate us...this is human nature

Ya my machine do 3D work and it look the same as i created in the software......Again I am not an artist and hope you will post more of your work to refresh our eyes..

    Best regards
    Khalid

I observe the pictures you posted are streched , fading their aspect ratio ..This is not good practice.. Hope you will post next pictures without distorting them...
Following thread shows some of my 3D work i created, but machining not carried out so far..You will see the maturity level as you passed through the pages...this is called learning...

Don't see the topic, perhaps it is 'No Cost Bad Quality Large Relief Model'
LOW COST BEST QUALITY LARGE RELIEF MODELS

kahlid, here is a video that shows a bit more depth, we ran the comedy and tragedy mask yesterday for the doors and i can tell you the detail exposed between mdf and pine was night and day!! more photos and vid later

    "http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gf4deIfXySc&feature=related"]YouTube - more grapes

maybe i should learn to video better!!! as well you can really hear the .5 roughuot going on in the back ground that has tearned into the loudest sound since i put the keling drivers on machine.
