You are selecting the 2D Pocket strategy and using an end mill. To get the 3D vcarved effect you need to use the VCarve / Engrave strategy.
Here's a short video showing how to select the design, select a V cutter and preview the results. I hope this helps,

Pocketing is no problem. But how did you manage to get the 'V Groove' type of shape in the design? My pockets all have a flat bottom

I hope you have another PC with a parallel port to drive the new HobbyCNC PRO kit you're constructing. Just thought I'd give you a little warning before completion so that you won't be bummed when you get to where you can spin some motors and take Vectric's V-Carve out for a test run.
