    Motorcycle Windshield Bracket

    CNCZone!

I would like to have a bracket made for a motorcycle windshield mount. It would be from a no larger than 1'x1' sheet of metal for both pieces, out of 1/8th" thick aluminum. 4 holes, 4 bends total. I would just like to get a quote for now. The last place I talked to wanted 140 minimum. Wondered if I could get it cheaper, if not I will just make myself. Let me know if I am crazy expecting a better deal for this.

    Thanks for your time!

Here is a diagram of what I am looking for. Parts would be mirrored.

At a modest $60/hr, that's just over two hours with material. Hell, there's a few minutes just in converting your Meters to something useful.

Good to know guys! I think if it will cost me that much I will build my own. Thinking of getting a 3d printer anyway. Maybe I will just make it with that. Thanks all for your time!!

They didn't, there's been talk of a design that would work to print aluminum. The components to build the machine and run the machine would be quite costly and as I know of it's never been done. I think the entire comment of 3d printing this part is stupid, it should be cut, blasted, or punched out and bent. I would quote this job, but don't like dealing with people that don't understand or appreciate labour and skilled trades...

You sir, are grumpy, and you're right, you're soo much better than me.

I only came on here to make sure I wasn't getting taken, cause I figured you guys would know better than me, because I do appreciate tradesman. I wish I knew a trade and envy you guys that create things all the time. I did not mean to offend, and am sorry if I did. When I said I would print it, I had meant I would make it out of plastic instead. It's not that I don't think it's worth it. I just don't need it over engineered. I do appreciate your guys help. Now, maybe you can use that expensive CNC machine to pull the stick out of your butt...

Well you should be sorry, you just made another lame remark. You just wanted to check and see if you were being took, at $140.00, obviously you have no concept, common sense, or appreciation for the work.

Concept maybe no, but I would love to learn more. You sir are not making me feel very welcome on this forum. Common sense, you have no idea who I am, or what I know. I don't believe common sense comes into the pricing of labor, that is why I was asking... Appreciation, I have said more than a few times already that I appreciate your guys time helping me out. Again I say, you sir are a grumpy arse hole. Get off y'er high horse and stop reading posts if you get all pissy about it.

Look here guy, people spend their time quoting parts for people like you who expect things done for next to nothing, pisses me off and I'm sure everyone else. I understand you don't know anything about what your talking about "you continually show this". You say the price to have your parts made is just an outrage, yet everyone here told you it's a good price you got quoted at $140 for a $200-$250 part, and then you say your going to go and spend a few thousand on a 3d printer and do it yourself "total BS" , yeah sure guy. I hope you've learned your lesson not to waste any ones time requesting quotes, you really have no business in the RFQ, kindly please don't come back.

Look, I did not say the price was outrageous. I thought it was reasonable and wanted to check it with you guys. For the price there are $600 printers out there that will put me on my way to many parts. Again sorry for offending.

Also "next to nothing" you have no idea what I wanted to spend. I just thought IMHO that it would take a max of an hour for ME to do with the proper tools. Let alone someone with your guys expertise. Again, I didn't need it over engineered, just slapped together. Chill the heck out. Jesus. RFQ is "request for quote", I got one, didn't take it. STFU!

Specify 6061 aluminum if you aren't having it anodized or painted. It will be much easier to polish and maintain nice appearance than other grades, it is also the cheapest and most available.
