Can a cnc router cut as fine inlays in wood and cut veneer for the inlay

I wonder if there are any cnc router machines that can cut real detailed inlay work and the veneer to go in the inlay or is it better to use
a Laser cutter for this?

limitation is on the cutter diameter on the pocket side ...unless the wood is thick enough to use the vcarve method...
